CLAi's RED on the Road mobile production unit provides on location 4k final cut editing suites so that footage shot on the RED One camera may be edited as soon as it is shot, streamlining the production to post-production workflow. CLAi addresses the challenge of editing by providing a choice between editing at our studios in San Francisco or by bringing an entire edit facility to you (with our editor or your own). We can edit right on location, starting the backup and digitizing/encoding process while shooting is still going on, and placing shots straight into Final Cut Pro. It is because of our mobile post-production unit that you are able to view your footage in a timeline as it is captured, giving you the ability to check the shots you are getting complete with color correction and in context, and make retake and fine tuning decisions right then and there. The alternative is to do part or all of your editing on your own doorstep - using Big Red to produce a rough cut on location and then take the program back to the studio to do technical finishing and mastering.
